In this blog post, Olivia + Laura share a ton of fun activities to do in Montreal and its surrounding areas.

Montreal in the summer is probably the ideal time to be in the city. The sun sets later, the city is alive, and there are so many things to do during the day or night! So, in honour of our city, we've compiled a list of things you can do this summer in and on the outskirts of Montreal.

FYI: This is also a list of the things we plan on doing this summer!

Visit the Festivals

Grand Prix Weekend

Calling all F1 fans! The Grand Prix is finally back in Montreal this year from June 17th through the 19th. Before race day, head to Crescent Street, which is closed off for the weekend and transformed into a place to eat, drink, and party with F1-themed displays, as well as a stage with DJs and live music.

Just for Laughs

Just for Laughs is an iconic comedy festival that you won’t want to miss in Montreal. From July 13 to July 31st, head to Quartier des Spectacles to watch your favourite comedians crack some jokes. Check out their website to see who will be in Montreal this year!

Food Truck Festivals

Food Truck Festival is back baby! Les Premiers Vendredis announced will be back every first Friday of the month from June to October at the Olympic Stadium. We understand how hard it could be to decide where to eat amongst friends or significant others — food trucks solve everyone’s problem (and they’re yummy)!

O+L Tip: Be prepared to wait in line, it only happens once a month so expect a lot of people!

Some others include the Montreal Fireworks Festival, Osheaga, ITALFest and many more which you can find on Tourisme Montreal's official website.

Smell the Flowers

Maison Lavande (located in the St.Eustache area) is a Quebec summer staple. Grab your significant other or the girls and enjoy the blooming fields of lavender. Visitors can bring food and beverages to the premise or buy lavender-flavoured treats like frozen yogurt or lemonade.

The fields are in bloom as of June 24, 2022, and will be open until the end of August!

Try New Places

If Montreal is known for anything, it is gastronomy! With hundreds of iconic restaurants and new ones opening every season, you are sure to spend your summer eating through Montreal. Don't forget to venture out of your go-to spots! Try somewhere new like the recently opened Terrasse Carla or the supper-club Yoko Luna.

Paint & Sip

We're always looking for fun activities to do around the city that don't just involve a dinner reservation and this Paint & Sip event is perfect! Located in Pancho, this is the perfect date night with your significant others or your besties! Enjoy drinks and food all while channelling your inner Picasso — all you need to bring are your creative juices! Follow their Instagram to find out when the next event is!

Watch the Planes

At Parc Jacques-de-Lesseps you can take a moment to unwind and watch the planes take-off as the sunset's on Montreal. Pack some camping chairs, a blanket and some wine and take-in the moment! You will feel like you're in a movie, and everything will feel quite small as you sit by the massive passing planes.

While you're there you might consider our next recommendation to...

Book a Trip

Quebec is great but we all need some time away from home (especially after the pandemic), so, book a trip out of here! Visit a beach, visit Europe (check out our Paris Travel Guide for inspo) or go somewhere you've never been before.

We made it through an international crisis that pretty much forced us to stay home, so let's get out here, finally!

Thank you for reading this week's blog post! If you want to see more summer content be sure to stick around — there is so much more to come! In the meantime, if there is something you'd specifically want to see more of, let us know on Instagram @oliviaandlaurablog.

See you around Montreal!
